And your 2013 Miss GA USA is...

Hello everyone!!! I can't believe that I can finally say that one of my life-long dreams finally became a reality! In the sweet town of Cartersville, I was crowned Miss Georgia USA 2013, on the night of November 17th 2012 and could not be more excited!! It has been just a little over 3 weeks and it still hasn't completely sunk in yet :) I wanted to start a blog so I could share this amazing year with you all to follow along as I prepare for Miss USA, go to appearances, meet with my awesome sponsors, and everything in between! Also, as I prepared to compete for Miss GA USA, I followed a couple blogs that kept me truly inspired and motivated to follow my dreams, and so I hope to do the same for you all!
First off...the pageant weekend! What an incredible experience. Kimi G (my fabulous director) really does puts on a beautiful show for everyone involved, and in the audience watching! The weekend was a blast from the get go, starting bright and early Thursday morning at registration. Sitting in the conference room, before being welcomed to the city of Cartersville and hearing a few words from Kimi, I couldn't help but notice that I was surrounded by 50 AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL, INTELLIGENT and TALENTED women. It is so inspiring to be surrounded by such a positive energy that is created amongst these women. WOW!
Finals on Saturday night came sooner than expected, as I quickly found myself about to walk on stage to compete for the coveted title of Miss GA USA 2013. I reminded myself that I had done everything I could, and was totally prepared, so all I could do at this point was be myself, relax and show off my hard work! Earlier that day, my good friend Brenna Mader, the current Miss Tennessee and soon to be roomie at Miss USA :), said something that really resonated with me. She said, "Just go have fun! Go out there like it might be your last time ever on stage." Love when things click like that.
Standing backstage, I said a quick prayer, took a deep breath, and walked. The show started with the Opening Number dancing to NE-YO's "Let's Go" LOVE it! That song is still stuck in my head :)
I was ecstatic after getting called into the Top 15 and was ready to compete! Swimsuit was so fun; we strutted down the runway to "Gangnam Style". In evening gown, I felt so elegant in my red dress walking to Rihanna's "Diamonds". As I was called 3rd into the Top 5, my heart dropped. My roommate for the weekend and good friend Keri Crosby, stood up there with me and we squeezed each others hand with excitement! After the final question, I felt super relieved because I knew it was all in God's hands and whatever was meant to be was meant to be. It came down to North Marietta, Jamie Kelton and I, and this was a moment that her and I had talked about the craziness of this actually becoming a reality, us being the last 2...and there we were! CRAZY! When they announced me as the winner, my jaw dropped. The girls all were so sweet and immediately came up and gave me congratulatory hugs & said some of the sweetest things! The Greenwood Trio was complete!! I am looking forward to an amazing year with my sisters Miss Tennessee Brenna Mader and Miss Mississippi Paromita Mitra :)
Before I headed back to the Holiday Inn for the night, the family and I headed to one of the only things open at that time & hit the Cartersville Chili's! WHAT A MEAL! After eating so healthy for so long leading up to the pageant, eating Chili's really hit the spot! Once I got back to the hotel, I could barely fall asleep because all of this seemed so surreal! I couldn't believe it! I still can't believe it :)
The following morning my little sis, Miss Georgia Teen USA, Julia Martin & I had a meeting with Mrs. Kim (the best director in the country). We got to sign our official paperwork and received insight on the amazing things coming our way this year!!  I can't wait to see what God has in store for me this year and what doors he plans to open along the way :) I'm along for the ride and plan to take every opportunity and run with it full force! I am truly blessed and honored to have been given the opportunity to represent my home state of Georgia throughout the year and on the Miss USA stage this summer! I promise I will make you proud :)
